I reached out to my long time friend and world renowned street photographer, Anthony O'Donnell to help create this VERY SPECIAL CAPSULE.
Each deck features a Photo taken by Anton on a vintage Haselblad point and shoot camera, which gives the photo's a "SOUL" and "FEELING" impossibly difficult to recreate. At this point, Anton then developed the film, and converted the images to high resolution digital format files, which were then printed on our signature 7-ply Hard Rock Maple Skateboard Decks.
Where there is Beauty, so must there be it's opposite. Where there is sadness, so too shall there be Happiness to counter and balance the universal scales.
One of Anton's incredible skills, is his ability to capture the BEAUTY and DISMAY, the TRIUMPH, and the FAILURES of everyday life, in a way that shows Each side as equals, and necessary for one an others existence. Living in the City by the Bay, Anton has made it a point to go out and photograph LIFE AS IT OCCURS, not staging anything, but instead, allowing the drama of life to play out upon the STAGE of life itself.
In this photo entitled "Chain Huggers" we can see the gorgeous victorian style homes San Fransisco is known for, slowly being eaten up by the poverty caused by skyrocketing housing prices, and the absurdly high cost of living. Slightly off center, we see a couple embracing each other in a tender moment of UNCONDITIONAL LOVE. Symbolizing that no matter how bad things may seem, love will always be there to comfort us, allow us to grieve, and help inspire us to be able to move on to a brighter day.
